A single webpage explaining the truth of salvation by Jesus Christ...

In God's word, The Bible, in the book of John, chapter 18, verse 38 we read of the final words of a conversation between the Roman governor Pontius Pilate and Jesus Christ just before the crucifixion... Pilate finishes with the question: "What is truth?"...

Also in John, in chapter 14, verse 6 Jesus says: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me" So the question then is what is truth?...

Here are some answers from the Bible...

  • The Bible, from Genesis to Revelation is inspired by the Holy Spirit and is the manual for God's people and the final authority in matters of faith and life... Psalm 119:105; 2 Timothy 3:15-17 (read scriptures)

  • There is only one God, the creator of the universe, who is eternally existent in three co-equal persons or personalities: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1,2; John 1:1-3; 15:26 (read scriptures)

  • Sin (evil) entered the world by the disobedience of the first man and woman Adam and Eve, who were deceived by Satan and ever since then, everyone has 'sinned' (done bad things and/or ignored God's existence) and is separated from God and has hatred to Him whether they realise it or not. Sin caused 'death' (spiritually and physically) to enter the world and alienated us from God with no way for us to remedy this by our own efforts. We therefore need God's forgiveness in order to escape His wrath and Hell and to have a loving relationship with Him. John 3:16-18; 5:24; Romans 3:23; 6:23; 8:1,2 (read scriptures)

  • The Son of God became a human being by conception of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary living on earth approximately 2000 years ago as Jesus Christ. He lived a perfect 'sinless' life and was put to death by execution on a cross (crucifixion). The wrath of God the Father was poured out on Him in our place. He bled and died as our substitute! His death was the punishment for our sin and restores us to a relationship with God if we trust in Him. John 1:14; Acts 2:23,24; Ephesians 2:3-6; Isaiah 53:3-9 (read scriptures)

  • Jesus rose from death, bodily from the tomb and appeared to his followers on various occasions before ascending to Heaven where he now is our intercessor, our mediator with God the Father. Acts 1:3,9; 2:32,33 (read scriptures)

  • Christ sent the Holy Spirit and He lives inside all those who are true believers. All those who truly love and believe in Jesus and trust in Him for salvation have the Holy spirit in them uniting them into the one true Church of God - The Body of Christ His people, not a building. The Holy Spirit gives new life and is the source of power and guidance for those who obey Him. John 3:1-8; 14:16,17,26; Acts 2:1-4, 38; 5:32 (read scriptures)

  • The Lord Jesus Christ will suddenly return to earth in power as King and Judge of all people. All those who have accepted Jesus as their personal saviour will live with Him forever in perfect bliss but those who have rejected Him will spend a conscious eternity in the torment of Hell. Acts 1:11; 17:31 (read scriptures)

So what is Truth?

The truth is that God loves you and made you to have a relationship with Him. Sin has spoiled this and nothing you can do in your own strength will bring you back to Him.

But If you believe (in heart and mind) in the life, death and ressurection of Jesus Christ and pray (speak, ask) that He will forgive you and live in your heart, repenting of your sin, He will answer this prayer and by His Spirit become part of you. The truth is that He will save your life! - The one you're living right now, regardless of your circumstances or how bad things may be, and ultimately He will save you for 'eternal life', the life after this one!

The truth is that this grace (undeserved blessing) of God is free if you ask for it. We cannot save ourselves by trying to live a good life, but when we become a follower of Christ we will want to live as good a life as possible 'because' we're saved.

This webpage is just a snapshot of the 'gospel' (good news) of Jesus Christ... To find out more for yourself, read God's Word: get yourself a Bible in a version and language that you can understand and read it, praying (asking) that God will reveal His truth to you through what you read. If it all seems too much too soon, try starting with just the book of John, in the new testament and go from there.

Find someone who is a believing Christian and ask what their faith means to them... Find where Christians meet in your locality and go along to a meeting or service: Look for a Bible-believing church of 'born again Christians' where God is praised and worshipped and the truths of the Bible are taught.

The truth is that you can know God as your friend and have the assurance of eternal life. You can use the following prayer or words like it to tell Jesus that you want to follow Him:

"Dear Lord Jesus, Thank you for dying for me on the cross. I am truly sorry for living my life without you and for my sins. Please forgive me and come and live with me in my heart so I can live for you. Amen"

So what is truth? - We'll finish this page with the following words of Jesus from John chapter 8 verses 31,32; "If you obey my teaching, you really are my disciples; you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
